Chart 1 of 3

Color Grade

D (colorless) → G (near colorless) → J (faint yellow). The grade you choose depends on setting metal color and personal preference — not just aesthetics.

D color diamond
D
Colorless

Purest white. Invisible warmth. Premium priced.

G color diamond
G
Near Colorless

Our recommendation. Looks identical to D in white gold.

J color diamond
J
Faint Yellow

Warmth visible to the eye. Best value in yellow gold.

💡 Concierge Tip: In white gold or platinum, choose G or H — indistinguishable from D at 20–30% savings. In yellow or rose gold, J or K color looks warm and intentional.

Chart 2 of 3

Clarity Grade

Flawless (IF) → VS1 → SI1 → I1. For lab-grown diamonds, SI1 is almost always eye-clean — saving you hundreds over VVS grades.

IF clarity diamond
IF
Internally Flawless

No inclusions visible at 10x magnification. Rare luxury.

VS1 clarity diamond
VS1
Very Slightly Incl.

Inclusions invisible to the naked eye. Excellent value.

SI1 clarity diamond
SI1
Slightly Included

Eye-clean in lab diamonds. Best price-to-quality ratio.

I1 clarity diamond
I1
Included

Inclusions may be visible. Steep discount, visible trade-off.

💡 Concierge Tip: Our sweet spot is VS1–SI1 for lab-grown. These are eye-clean 95% of the time and can save $200–$800 over VVS grades on the same stone.

Cut is the single most important factor for brilliance. An Ideal-cut G-color diamond will outperform a D-color Good-cut every time.

Very Good cut diamond
Very Good
Excellent Value

Near-Ideal. Slight trade-offs invisible to the untrained eye.
